An early morning collision between a pickup truck and a deer has sent two people to hospital in non-life threatening condition.

The crash occurred Sunday morning at approximately 3:30, when the westbound truck collided with the animal on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of the Valley Ridge Blvd. interchange. After striking the deer, the driver of the truck lost control of their vehicle. The truck crossed the median and the eastbound lanes of the highway before coming to a rest in the ditch on the south side of the road.

EMS responded to the crash and transported the pickup truck driver and a passenger to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The deer did not survive the collision.
