One person is dead and four others have been transported to hospital following a Saturday morning crash on Glenmore Trail near the Blackfoot Trail overpass.
According to police, a crash involving a Ford F150 pickup truck and a Honda Accord occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m.
Police believe the truck crossed the median and collided with at least one oncoming vehicle.
A westbound motor vehicle lost control, crossing over the median on Glenmore Trail,” said Acting Sgt. Ken Rutherford. “The vehicle, when it crossed over, struck an eastbound vehicle with four occupants.”
Initial reports indicate five people were injured in the collision. A 63-year-old female, the passenger in the front seat of the Honda Accord, suffered significant, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not been released.
EMS transported four patients to various hospitals, The surviving occupants of the Honda, a 66-year-old male who was driving, a 5-year-old female and a 22-year-old female, were transported in serious but stable condition and their injuries are described as non-life threatening.
The driver of the pickup truck, a woman believed to be in her thirties, suffered non-life threatening injuries and her condition is described as serious but stable.
Investigators have yet to speak to the driver of the truck but plan to question her after she receives medical attention.
According to police, there are no indications that alcohol factored in the crash, but weather, speed and road conditions may have contributed to the pickup driver losing control of her vehicle.
Glenmore Trail was closed in both directions between Blackfoot Trail and Deerfoot Trail following the crash, but reopened at approximately 2:30 p.m
