AIRDRIE, Alta. — Police in Alberta have nabbed a speeder as the holiday weekend started.
A traffic unit northeast of Calgary say they spotted a white newer model Chevrolet Camaro travelling east on Highway 9 just east of Highway 21 at an extremely high rate of speed on Friday.
The officer got a speed reading of 235 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone.
A 58-year-old man from Saskatoon has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was released on $500 cash bail and is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Airdrie on Oct. 27.
Police say they will be in marked and unmarked vehicles watching for and ticketing drivers who are aggressive, speeding, impaired, distracted and those not wearing seatbelts.
