A fatal crash shut down all the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail on Wednesday while police investigated.
The crash happened on Deerfoot Trail near 17 Ave. S.E. at around 5:25 a.m.
Police say a tractor-trailer unit was pulling a trailer carrying a crane with a second tractor-trailer unit acting as a push truck.

The driver of a semi truck has been killed in a crash on northbound Deerfoot Trail. Traffic has been shut down at 17 Ave. S.E.
Police say that the driver of a truck died in a serious crash on Deerfoot Trail near 17 Ave. S.E. on Wednesday morning.
Police say the combined rig, weighing approximately 150,000 kg, was travelling on Deerfoot when one of the chains on the loaded truck shifted causing the crane to fall to one side.
"At that point, there was a push truck that was connected to the trailer that was then sucked under the back of the trailer that was hauling the crane," says Sgt. Bob Pughe.
The 39-year-old driver of the push truck was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The victim was a fathe of two from Calgary. The man's family has been notified and his identity has been withheld at their request.
All lanes on northbound Deerfoot Trail were shut down for the incident and remained closed for most of the day.
The roadway was reopened just after 4:30 p.m. and police continue to investigate the cause of the crash
