One male was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Hamilton late Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened shortly after 5 p.m. when a car travelling northbound collided with a pickup truck travelling southbound on Highway 6 near Freelton Road, Ontario Provincial Police Const. Lisa MacIntyre said.

The male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, MacIntyre said. The male driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The identity of the deceased driver has not been released by police.

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.

Highway 6 was closed for several hours following the crash. It reopened shortly before 10 p.m.

Police expect to provide an update on the details surrounding the crash Friday.
