Three injured in Highway 22X crash

A Sunday morning collision in the south end of the city has left one person in critical condition and two others suffering undisclosed injuries.
The crash occurred just prior to 9:00 a.m. on Spruce Meadows Trail (Highway 22X) between James McKevitt Rd. and 24 St. S.W. when two vehicles, a Kia Spectra hatchback and a Ford Focus sedan, both travelling eastbound, collided
The driver of the Focus, a female driver in her forties, suffered serious, potentially life threatening injuries. The woman was extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.
The Focus passenger, a female in her mid thirties, was transported to the South Calgary Campus by EMS in stable condition. The extent of her injuries has not been released.
The teenage driver of the Spectra, the lone passenger in the car, was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police have closed a section of Highway 22X to facilitate an investigation by the Traffic Unit
