A 48-year-old woman from Cremona is dead following a single vehicle collision in the area between Cochrane and Calgary.

According to RCMP, the driver, the lone occupant of the Toyota Sienna minivan, was travelling northbound on Lochend Rd. approximately 10 kilometres north of Highway 1A when her vehicle entered the ditch. The minivan rolled several times before landing on its roof.

A passerby, who had not witnessed the crash, noticed the overturned vehicle and alerted 911. RCMP, fire crews and EMS responded to the crash scene at approximately 5:30 a.m. Sunday, where the body of the driver was located and pronounced dead. It is unknown how long the vehicle sat in the ditch before being spotted.

The identity of the driver is not being released. An investigation into the time of the crash and the cause of the collision is underway.
