Police investigate fatal Deerfoot

A collision on northbound Deerfoot Trail Saturday evening has claimed the life of one man and sent one other person to hospital in critical, life threatening condition.
The crash, which involved two sedans, a Checker taxi and a pickup truck, occurred just before 6:00 p.m. near the Beddington Trail N.E. overpass.
The driver of a red sedan, a man believed to be in his sixties, was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported a female passenger, believed to be in her sixties, from the red sedan to hospital in critical, life threatening condition.
The other drivers and passengers involved in the collision did not suffer serious injuries.
The identity of the deceased man has not been released as police attempt to notify the next of kin.
A section of Deerfoot Trail was closed for several hours following the collision.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit continues to investigate the incident
