A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 16 Ave. and 19 St. N.W.
According to police, the man was attempting to cross the street at approximately 4:30 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla. The man was pinned under the vehicle for several minutes while witnesses attempted to life the vehicle.
Fire crews arrived on scene and successfully removed the man using high pressure air bags to lift the vehicle. .
EMS transported the male, believed to be in his mid-thirties, to the Foothills Medical Centre in serious but non-life threatening condition.
Westbound 16 Avenue was closed to traffic following the crash but police have reopened the road.
