DYSART, Ont. - One person is dead and another has been airlifted to hospital after a snowmobile crashed into a tree in Ontario's cottage country.
Provincial police say a male was driving the vehicle with a female passenger near Bancroft when it slammed into a tree.
Officers responded to the collision Sunday morning and say the male died at the scene while the female suffered life-threatening injuries and has been airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital.
No names or ages have been released.
Police are investigating and say it appears at this time that speed may have been a factor in the collision.
