Calgary police advised motorists to avoid a section of Glenmore Trail following an afternoon collision involving a semi tractor-trailer and a median divider.

The crash occurred near Deerfoot Trail at approximately 4:30 p.m. and impacted eastbound and westbound travel on Glenmore Trail.

According to police, the semi, which was transporting meat, crashed into the median divider, landed on its side and caught on fire.

EMS officials say one patient was transported to hospital in stable condition as a precautionary measure.

Glenmore Trail was closed in both directions between Deerfoot Trail and Blackfoot Trail.

Eastbound lanes of Glenmore Trail reopened shortly after 6:00 p.m.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
