A man convicted of impaired driving causing death has been sentenced to six years in jail.

42-year-old Kelly James York was driving a minivan which hit a motorcycle head-on July 15, 2012 in southeast Calgary.

The motorcyclist, Tony Harrison from Chestermere, was killed instantly.

Karen Harrison, the victim’s sister, was at the courthouse for the sentencing and she says “I don’t think six years is enough. I don’t think 25 years is enough because we now have a life sentence without my brother.”

She also added “but in reality it’s an awesome sentence, precedent setting and it sends a strong message that you cannot drink and drive or you will go to jail.”
