Calgary Police say the driver of a sedan was very lucky after he crashed into a two-trailer semi early Friday morning.

At about 2:30 a.m., a driver was northbound on Stoney Trail between 16 Avenue and McKnight Boulevard when he crashed into the large truck.

Investigators believe the driver may not have realized that the semi had two trailers when he went to change lanes, and collided with the side of the rear trailer.

The driver, who needed to be extricated from the passenger side of his vehicle, seemed to have merely suffered minor injuries.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

There is no word on charges in the crash.
