RCMP said one person was in hospital, and a busy highway in northern Alberta was partially shut down, after a serious collision Monday afternoon.

Police said a two-vehicle head-on collision happened Monday on Highway 63 near House River between a van and a pick-up truck that was hauling another vehicle.

Late Monday afternoon, police said officers were still investigating the crash, and the highway was reduced t one lane at House River, with traffic in both directions alternating in opposite directions.

Boyle RCMP said drivers should expect delays when travelling in the area – but the highway was expected to be cleared by about 6 p.m.
